When domestic violence occurs, it is rarely the first time it happens. There is usually a history behind it. That appears to have been the case for Rickea Jackson, who, according to reports from ESPN, had been suffering harassment from her former partner, Atlanta player James Pearce Jr.
The report referenced by the sports network states that Jackson made several calls to 911, reporting the situation she was experiencing with Pearce Jr. Police officers were even dispatched to her residence on more than one occasion.
Rickea Jackson’s 911 reports
According to that information, Rickea called the police seven times before the NFL player was ultimately arrested.
In the weeks before Atlanta Falcons linebacker James Pearce Jr. allegedly rammed his Lamborghini SUV into WNBA player Rickea Jackson’s car in Doral, Florida, at least seven 911 calls to police indicate heightened fears from his unidentified girlfriend that she was being stalked and harassed, and that she believed Pearce had tried to break into her residence
ESPN confirmed this past Monday, March 9, 2026.
Police were emphatic in warning the defensive player to stay away from the woman with whom he had maintained a relationship. However, he reportedly ignored those instructions and eventually was arrested and charged with stalking and felony battery.
Rickea Jackson is willing to testify against Pearce Jr.
Rickea is a professional WNBA player. She displays her skills for the Los Angeles Sparks and has said she is willing to testify if the entire situation involving Pearce Jr. proceeds to trial.
Police officers were repeatedly dispatched to a residence in Doral described as the home of Pearce’s on-again, off-again girlfriend between November and the day of Pearce’s arrest.
The Sparks player also accused her former partner of theft. The woman reportedly told authorities that she did not want the man entering the house when officers arrived at the location and added that she feared for her safety.
When law enforcement arrived at the scene, the player was no longer present at the residence. Later, the basketball player decided to leave the home and stay at a hotel in order to avoid any additional problems.
In the report presented by ESPN, several interactions with law enforcement are detailed, including one in which she reported a robbery.
The redacted report described Pearce as “the subject,” but it is unclear what occurred. A woman, listed as “Ms. Jackson,” told police in the report that she saw Pearce leaving before police arrived.
The report notes.
The situation does not appear favorable for Pearce, who also received charges for fleeing and eluding police, aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer and resisting an officer without violence.
Now attention turns to how the legal process will unfold in the coming weeks. The seriousness of the accusations places the Falcons player in a delicate position, not only regarding his immediate legal future but also his professional career. The developments surrounding the case could ultimately determine whether he can continue his path in the NFL or if the consequences will permanently alter his standing within the league.
