Canelo Alvarez has yet to announce an opponent for his next fight in May, but he seems to have an opponent for the second half of 2025.

According to several versions of specialized media, Saul Alvarez (62-2-2) will face Terence Crawford in September in Las Vegas, after several attempts to negotiate with the Guadalajara native. However, nothing has been made official yet.

Diego Pacheco asks Canelo Alvarez for an opportunity

While Crawford is a media rival for the Mexican, he is not an opponent in the 168-pound division, where Alvarez is the WBC and WBO super middleweight world champion.

David Benavidez (29-0) is an official challenger in the division, but the fight has not taken place and he has already moved up to 175 pounds in search of his title opportunity in the Light Heavyweight division.

But now Diego Pacheco comes out to talk about the opportunity to face Canelo, a natural Super Middleweight rival.

Pacheco (23-0, 18KOs) defeated Steven Nelson (20-1) by unanimous decision with a triple score of 117-111 and remains the World Boxing Council’s United States champion and the World Boxing Organization’s international monarch.

Who is Diego Pacheco, the aspiring fighter to face Saul Alvarez

Diego Pacheco is a Mexican-American fighter born in Los Angeles, California and is 23 years old. His professional debut was in December 2018.

Still on the rise in his career, Pacheco is ranked fourth at 168 pounds by the specialist site BoxRec, behind Canelo Alvarez, Christian Mbilli and Osleys Iglesias.

With uncertainty surrounding Saul Alvarez’s next opponent in May, names such as Mbili, Pacheco and Iglesias have already been speculated along with the possible unification against William Scull, champion of the IBF.
