Without a doubt, Caitlin Clark’s second year with the Indiana Fever has not been the best for the 23-year-old star, even though everything seemed to indicate otherwise at the beginning.

On May 26, it was confirmed that CC would have to sit out due to a strained left quadriceps. This injury kept her out of action for five games.

A month later, her groin injury also meant she was absent from the team, leading her to appear in only 13 of the Indiana Fever’s 32 games.

Despite her absence and the loss of Sydney Colson, who tore her left anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), and Aari McDonald, who fractured a bone in her right foot, the team was able to bounce back. They proved this by defeating the Chicago Sky 92-70, who are also suffering from the absence of Angel Reese.

After the game, Kelsey Mitchell was emotional when talking about the team’s resilience in the face of defeat and injury. “I think this is the most resilient team I’ve ever been a part of, and I say that wholeheartedly,” she said.

These words did not go unnoticed and were shared by the official Indiana X account, formerly Twitter. However, one of her teammates echoed this message.

Veteran forward Natasha Howard shared Mitchell’s video on her account and left some heartfelt words: “We will always fight for each other, but we feel this fight is a little different with our girls out of the lineup. All the hard work they’ve put in over this season won’t go unnoticed,” she wrote.

However, that wasn’t all. Howard didn’t miss the opportunity to send a message to her teammates who are battling injuries and will miss the rest of the season, and to Clark: “Win or lose, just know we are fighting to the end for Syd, CC & Ari. See you soon, CC.”

Fans’ reactions

Of course, the post generated all kinds of reactions on X, but it was this last part of her post that caught the attention of fans, who commented enthusiastically about Caitlin’s possible return:

Omg see you soon cc waaaah excited for this. thanks tash,” said one. “Tashh if you know when Cs back, dm me. I swear I won’t tell anyone. Great team dub yesterday, everyone was having fun out there and so were we, cheering for y’all,” wrote one of them. “Yay!!!!!! See you soon CC22!!!!!!” commented a third.

However, neither Clark nor the team have officially announced her return to the court. Meanwhile, Indiana is preparing to host Paige Bueckers’ Dallas Wings (8-23), currently second to last in the WNBA standings, at Gainbridge Fieldhouse this Tuesday, August 12.
