Despite losing heavily to Jake Paul when the pair met in the ring last year, Mike Tyson is the most recent voice of authority when it comes to facing the American YouTuber-turned-boxer.

Tyson lost by unanimous decision against Paul in November 2024 but that is not enough for him to not be worth listening to in the boxing world.

The next opponent for Paul may well be Roy Jones Jr in Puerto Rico in March, although the 55-year-old has tried to put an end to the speculation with a message on his Instagram account.

“LISTEN… I love what Jake has done for our sport. I also love the time and effort that he’s put forth to develop his craft. Being that I was Mikes last opponent before the big exhibition that they put on, I do feel like I’d probably be the most noteworthy opponent at this point. HOWEVER… I have not been contacted about any of these allegations so it is NOT A REALITY at this point in time,” Jones Jr wrote.

Tyson shares his thoughts

Tyson spoke about the possibility of the two fighting with Steve Covino and Rich Davis on FOX Sports Radio after losing to Paul.

“He’s fast enough though. If Roy is training, Roy could still do a lot of stuff. He’s got to be training though – he has to be training. Jake punches hard, my body hurts so bad,” Tyson said.

The original speculation came after Jones Jr told TMZ: “It makes me want to just go in there and test Jake Paul‘s chin. You know he’s got a good punch, I know he’s capable of putting anybody out, but I don’t think Mike checked his chin at all. So I wouldn’t mind just having a shot to see could I get to his chin, test his chin.”
