Mikal Bridges‘ agents confirmed Thursday the contract extension the Knicks forward signed with the Knicks. The forward agreed to stay with the New York team for four more years and will earn a substantial sum that will allow him to play with more enthusiasm than ever. However, the player gave up several million to support the team’s future plans.
The deal includes a player option for the 2029-30 season and a trade clause. Jalen Brunson’s contract extension in the 2024 offseason and, now, the agreement with Bridges have given the Knicks the flexibility to operate within both salary caps, giving them room to add more players to the roster.

Bridges could have earned $156 million with this extension, or even more if he had waited until his contract expired next summer. Instead, he agreed to the deal, which could give the Knicks future flexibility to continue building the team.
The Knicks were looking for those defensive skills and his availability to play every game, unmatched among current NBA players, when they traded the massive pick package to acquire Bridges from the Brooklyn Nets last summer.
New York Knicks reach 2024 Eastern Conference Finals
Bridges, along with Jalen Brunson, Karl-Anthony Towns, and others, helped the Knicks reach their first Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years last season. Bridges averaged 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 3.4 assists in 82 regular-season games with the Knicks last season.
The veteran Bridges has never missed a game in his career and was the only player to log at least 3,000 minutes last season, averaging 37.0 minutes per game, his career-high to date.
