The Dallas Cowboys have a huge debt to their fans with three decades without winning a title, which was increased after the failure of the 2024 season, in which the expectation was to return to the Super Bowl, but they ended up with a 7-10 record and with multiple injuries, the most important being that of quarterback Dak Prescott.

During his appearance on ‘Speak’ on Fox Sports, legendary former Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin said he was in favor of looking for another quarterback in the next NFL Draft to serve as Dak Prescott’s successor in Dallas.

“They were talking about trying to find another Dak in the system, we’re going to find him in the later rounds… This time I agree with this process, but I want them to go in the right direction, I want them to get me a real runner,” Irvin said of a characteristic the next Cowboys quarterback should have

Without beating around the bush, the Pro Football Hall of Famer recommended that the main feature the Cowboys should look for in a quarterback is that he is a true runner, similar to Jalen Hurts, who was a success for the Philadelphia Eagles in winning the last Super Bowl

“We’ve already established that Jalen Hurts has shown them a new way to win a Super Bowl. Now, I want them to say, ‘That’s a quarterback who can run.’ I want them to find me a fourth-round quarterback who is a running quarterback, not a quarterback who can run,” Irvin said.

The strategy would not be new for Dallas, as Prescott arrived as a fourth-round pick and due to an injury to Tony Romo found himself in the starting role in his rookie season.
