The 2025 WNBA Draft brought a wave of excitement to the Dallas sports scene on Monday night. The Wings selected former UConn standout Paige Bueckers with the No. 1 overall pick.

All night, the spotlight was firmly on Bueckers, a player long projected to be the top selection thanks to her dominant college career and ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor.

Micah Parsons hypes up Paige Bueckers

Bueckers joins a Dallas Wings franchise looking to rebuild after a disappointing 9-31 campaign.

Her arrival brings a spark of optimism to a city still reeling from the blockbuster trade that sent Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.

Fans and athletes across Dallas have already begun showing their support for Bueckers, including one of the Cowboys’ biggest stars.

Micah Parsons, the Cowboys’ All-Pro linebacker and a familiar face at Dallas sports events, took to social media to welcome the newest face in town.

In a video shared by the Cowboys on X, Parsons congratulated Bueckers on her selection and offered a personal request.

“Hey Paige, it’s your boy Micah,” he said.

“Congratulations on being No. 1 pick. Super extraordinary feat. Aye, I need a jersey. Can’t wait to see you and Arike ball out. I think y’all about to change it around.”

Parsons wasn’t the only star to celebrate Bueckers’ big night.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott added a quick welcome, saying, “Congratulations Paige, welcome to Dallas. Bueckers Buckets is here.”

Meanwhile, Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving, who Bueckers has cited as a longtime favorite, shared a heartfelt message, praising her journey and the impact she’s expected to make in the women’s game.

As one of the most anticipated WNBA rookies in years, Bueckers enters the league following a standout final college season where she averaged 19.8 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 4.5 assists while leading UConn to a national championship.

With her move to Dallas, the city adds another rising star to its sports culture, and according to Parsons, that culture is about to shift in a big way.
