Micah Parsons shocks NFL by training again just two months after torn ACL

Two months ago, the news felt devastating. A torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is typically a season-altering injury and can even change the course of a career. However, Micah Parsons is already deep into his recovery, working intensely on his injured leg and it’s not just the NFL that is watching closely.

The recovery timeline for the Packers’ star linebacker remains encouraging. An ACL injury in the NFL normally requires 9 to 12 months for a full competitive return, especially in explosive positions like linebacker.

NFL closely watching Parsons’ rapid recovery process

During the first 2 to 3 months, rehabilitation focuses on restoring mobility, activating the quadriceps, reducing inflammation, and beginning controlled strength exercises without impact.

At this stage, Micah Parsons is performing isolated exercises with his leg wrapped, using resistance bands, keeping the leg extended, and working through slow, controlled movements to progressively load weight onto the recovering knee.

This type of routine indicates he is still in an early to intermediate phase of the process, a critical stage for rebuilding stability and muscular strength before advancing to more intense work.

For most players, an ACL tear requires extensive rehabilitation and a long, cautious return. Parsons, however, appears determined to progress as quickly as possible but with discipline and steady steps.

Why the NFL is watching closely

During the 2025 regular season with the Green Bay Packers, Parsons recorded 12.5 sacks and 41 tackles, while also forcing two fumbles and ranking among the league leaders in quarterback pressures despite missing games due to injury. Those numbers highlight his consistency and relentless ability to chase down opposing quarterbacks, which is why offensive coordinators must specifically adjust their schemes to account for him. His sustained impact and proven productivity ensure that every move he makes including his recovery process is being closely monitored by rivals and fans alike.
