Dallas Cowboys star linebacker Micah Parsons has declared Joe Burrow as his pick for the league’s Most Valuable Player after another stellar performance on Saturday.

The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback delivered a game-winning touchdown in overtime to secure a 30-24 victory against the Denver Broncos, keeping the team’s playoff hopes alive.

Burrow’s 2024 season has been nothing short of remarkable, even by his high standards. He currently leads the NFL with 42 passing touchdowns, 4,641 passing yard and a completion rate of 69.8%, which further solidifies his career-best mark of 68.3%, the highest in league history.

On Saturday, Burrow completed 39 of 49 passes for 412 yards and three touchdowns, including the decisive strike in overtime. His consistency and poise under pressure have been critical to the Bengals‘ resurgence.

“If Joe burrow takes this team to the playoffs I don’t even think it should be in question who’s MVP!! God damm! Best in the world rn!,” Parsons wrote on X.

Carrying the Bengals despite defensive woes

While Burrow shines, Cincinnati’s defense has struggled mightily in 2024, ranking 28th in scoring. The team’s current 8-8 record underscores Burrow‘s herculean efforts to compensate for a faltering defense. After starting the season 4-8, the quarterback has rallied the Bengals to the brink of playoff contention with one game remaining.

Parsons recognized the difficulty of Burrow‘s task, stating that dragging a team back to .500 with such defensive shortcomings is a massive accomplishment.

Even with Burrow‘s incredible numbers, the MVP race is far from decided. Players such as Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson are having phenomenal seasons, while Saquon Barkley is on the cusp of breaking the NFL’s single-season rushing record. Burrow‘s case hinges on leading Cincinnati to the playoffs, a feat that would elevate his season to legendary status.

For Parsons, Burrow embodies what it means to be the most valuable player.

His ability to carry a team on his shoulders, rally them from near elimination, and deliver in high-pressure moments is what sets him apart.
