The worst-case scenario has been confirmed for those fans who were excited to see Lionel Messi in Puerto Rico. The Argentine superstar is injured and will not be able to play-at least not on the originally scheduled date.
Inter Miami officially confirmed the news, and Messi himself took the time to send a personal message to his followers, elevating him to another level of professionalism.
Messi’s message to the fans
“Hello everyone, well, I just wanted to send this message to the people of Puerto Rico-both to those who were going to the training session and to those going to the match. Honestly, in the last game in Ecuador I finished with some discomfort, that’s why I came off early too, and together with the organization and the club we decided to suspend this match. So I hope we can reschedule, that we can see each other, and that we can visit you soon. Sending you all a huge hug for the love you’ve shown, because I know all the tickets are sold out. I hope we can see each other later,” he said in an Instagram story.
The gesture from the No. 10 also sparked a debate on social media, with many pointing out what Messi did-because Cristiano Ronaldo has not dared to break his silence after missing up to three games.
In what appears to be a sort of strike-since the Portuguese star is reportedly unhappy with the investment in reinforcements at Al-Nassr–Cristiano Ronaldo has refused to play.
Fans believe that at least Messi had the decency to issue an apology and explain the situation, something Cristiano Ronaldo has not done, amid even rumors of a possible departure.
So far, he has only limited himself to posting various updates on his social media accounts.
