As Klay Thompson prepares to kick off a new regular season with the Dallas Mavericks, his girlfriend Meghan Thee Stallion has announced that she will release a new single that could pay tribute to him.
The 30-year-old rapper shared the news with her followers early Wednesday morning, and fans were quick to mention Klay as her muse.
Is Megan’s new song inspired by Thompson?
Sharing a photo of her hand holding a heart-shaped popsicle with the date “10/24,” Megan announced the release of “Lover Girl,” which will be available on all platforms on Friday.
Taken by surprise, as this is the second song she has released this year, fans were quick to show their support and launch theories about the song’s content, focusing on her new boyfriend:
“Klay the luckiest man alive,” said one of them. “Klay can’t fight us all,” joked another follower. “Omg that man done put her in her soft girl era,” commented another. “No more hot girl summer,” said another user.
The truth is that “Lover Girl” could be a turning point in her career, showing her more vulnerable and romantic side.
She and the five-time All-Star hinted at their romance in July when the rapper shared a photo with her Instagram followers that showed Thompson in the background. Then they arrived together at the Pete & Thomas Foundation Gala in New York, where they confirmed their relationship. They also constantly share photos and videos together on their social media accounts.
This new song puts an end to rumors of their breakup, after Klay dodged a question about his girlfriend during the Dallas Mavericks’ Media Day. The rapper then shared a video on her Instagram account and was seen cheering on the 35-year-old forward in the victory over the Los Angeles Lakers.
Meanwhile, as he awaits the release of his girlfriend’s new song, the Mavericks star will face the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday, October 22, at the American Airlines Center for the first game of the regular season.
