However, Navratilova‘s views on the participation of transgender athletes or those with differences in sexual development (DSD) in women’s competitions have been controversial.

In particular, in Khelif’s case, she has been firm in her stance that sports categories should be organized according to biological sex, even expressing her satisfaction with the recent measure implemented by World Boxing, as she expressed that this will prevent Imane Khelif from “beating up more women in a ring”.
