There has been a huge amount of interest in Notre Dame coach Marcus Freeman from the NFL but he is purely focusing on doing his best work for the time being.

The Chicago Bears are the team that have looked most likely to bring Freeman in as their coach, but their efforts have been somewhat rebuffed by Freeman‘s latest comments.

Freeman spoke to the press ahead of Monday’s Championship Game against Ohio State and whilst he is obviously flattered by the interest from the Bears, he isn’t focusing on it at all.

“To hear that the Bears have interest, it’s humbling,” Freeman said. “It’s the NFL. But it’s also a reminder of with team success comes individual success.

“I have put zero thought into coaching in the NFL. All my attention has just been on getting this team prepared for every opportunity we have in front of us.”

College Football fans impressed

Needless to say, the college football world is very pleased that Freeman could be sticking around, or is it at least treating the NCAA with proper respect and not fantasizing over NFL jobs as many coaches have done in the past.

One fan said on X: “He is a national treasure.”

“Good for him. Nice to see a college coach who wants to stay,” another fan wrote.

“Stay! Please stay! I love the Bears but you and ND just make so much sense and what you are building there I want it to last! Please stay at @NDFootball,”@Marcus_Freeman1,” a fan posted.

“Coach Freeman focusing on the Natty!” another fan reacted.

Despite all of the positivity, some more sceptical fans think that he clearly has been thinking about the NFL and the Bears but he just knows better than to admit it right now.
