Luka Doncichas made a major move off the court, hiring one of the most high-profile attorneys in the world as he navigates a legal dispute with his ex-fiancée.

The Los Angeles Lakers star has brought on Laura Wasser, widely known in celebrity circles as the “Disso Queen”, to represent him in an ongoing case involving Anamaria Goltes.

Wasser is no ordinary attorney. She has represented some of the biggest names in entertainment, including Kim Kardashian, Britney Spears, Angelina Jolie, and Jennifer Garner.

Her reputation for handling complex, high-profile separations makes her a significant addition to Doncic’s legal team, and a signal that the case could become both complicated and closely watched.

She was also recently involved in a custody case for Post Malone, further reinforcing her experience in family law disputes involving public figures.

The situation escalated earlier this month when Goltes filed a petition in Los Angeles seeking child support from Doncic.

In response, Wasser quickly moved to challenge the case. One of her first legal actions was filing a request to have the petition dismissed or “quashed.”

Her argument centers on jurisdiction – specifically, that California should not be handling the case.

Why Doncic wants the case dismissed

According to court filings, Wasser argued that none of the involved parties, Doncic, Goltes, or their children, are residents of California.

She also pointed out that Doncic had already initiated a family law case in Slovenia back in February 2026. That filing reportedly covers both custody and child support matters.

Because of that, Wasser claims Slovenia is the appropriate venue to handle the dispute, not California.

She further alleged that Goltes‘ filing in Los Angeles is an attempt at “forum shopping,” suggesting she is seeking a more favorable financial outcome due to California’s well-known child support laws.

Wasser’s filing also included claims that Goltes has withheld the couple’s children from Doncic, prompting him to take legal action in Slovenia.

Additionally, the filing states that Doncic has continued to cover expenses and provide financial support for his children while the matter is being resolved.

These competing claims highlight the complexity of the case, which now spans multiple jurisdictions and legal systems.

Doncic and Goltes share a long relationship that dates back to their teenage years. Over time, their relationship evolved into a family life, with two daughters born in recent years.

Their first child, Gabriela, was born in November 2023, followed by their second daughter, Olivia, in December 2025.

The breakdown of that relationship has now led to a legal dispute that could have significant implications both financially and personally.

A judge is expected to rule on Wasser‘s motion to dismiss the California case at a hearing scheduled for May.

That decision could determine where the case ultimately plays out – either in California or Slovenia, which would have a major impact on how the dispute proceeds.

For now, Doncic‘s decision to hire one of the most powerful attorneys in family law signals that he is preparing for a serious legal fight as the situation continues to unfold.
