The Los Angeles Lakers have fount their groove as they look to make a deep run in the playoffs, and they made a statement Sunday night when they beat the Oklahoma City Thunder 126-99.
The Lakers are currently on third place of the Western Conference, just behind the Thunder and the Houston Rockets.
Slovenian superstar Luka Doncic, All-Star veteran LeBron James, young baller Austin Reaves, and feisty rookie Dalton Knecht would like to send a statement to the rest of the league that they could win the West when they meet Oklahoma City once again at Paycom Center.
Luka and LeBron could use help from a kid
The Los Angeles Lakers are lead by head coach JJ Redick, a former standout with the Duke Blue Devils who was known to be a prolific scorers in NCAA history with 2,769 career points, which earned him being the National Player of the Year in 2005 and 2006. He was also a two-time ACC Player of the Year.
So there’s no surprise that his oldest son, Knox Redick – who’s 10 years old – has a great shooting technique when it comes to shooting from the three-point line, as we can see in a video posted on social media where the kid shoots around with Austin Reaves.
Fans loved watching Knox knocking down shots and they even joked about the fact that the kid could some day play along LeBron James. “Crazy to think this kid will play with LeBron one day,” an X user posted. “He’ll probably play with Luka and Reaves,” added another user. “He got some strenght to already be hitting NBA 3’s with proper form,” stated somebody else.
The Lakers are serious contenders
At the beginning of the season, fans didn’t know what to expect about the Los Angeles Lakers, with a core based off LeBron James and center Anthony Davis, who had already lead the team to an NBA championship in 2020, when the teams were playing in a bubble due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
But the blockbuster trade that sent Davis to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for All-Star Luka Doncic has proved to be one of the best moves for the Lakers in recent history, as they have found a lot of success with the lethal shooter, as well as major contributions from Reaves and the rest of the Lakers.
The Lakers‘ spectacular individual shotmaking rendered Oklahoma City‘s team defensive strategy useless Sunday night, a victory that could be a preview of a Western Conference matchup. If that’s an indication of the future, Los Angeles‘ fans have a lot of reasons to be excited about.
