Conor McGregor has turned his name into one of the most recognizable worldwide. A sharp and notorious rise saw him become UFC champion in 2015. From then, he used his platform and brand to expand his reach and fill up his bank account. No one can argue about his business acumen, but in a way, his abilities as a fighter came into question as the years went by. A few losses and a broken leg ended his UFC career prematurely.

As of late, he’s been focusing on his businesses and has even made movie appearances. But combat sports is always on his mind, and he has floated the possibility of a return to the Octagon at some point. That hasn’t happened yet, but he has made a decision on his next move: fighting Logan Paul in a boxing exhibition.

McGregor announced it on his Twitter account on Tuesday, revealing that he passed up a fight against UFC superstar Ilia Topuria in order to fight Paul in India instead.

Logan Paul didn’t think Conor McGregor would actually fight him

After fighting Paul, he plans to return to MMA. Topuria had been calling out McGregor ever since the Spaniard’s win over Max Holloway. It may happen eventually, but McGregor first wants to get revenge on Paul.

Why would he want revenge? Because Paul spoke ill of McGregor over a year ago in the lead-up to his fight against Dillon Danis, who is close to McGregor.

Conor McGregor is an average MMA fighter and a horrible boxer. I’m gonna beat the s**t out of his b**ch, Dillon, and then I’m gonna beat the s**t out of him… He had nothing to say when I called him out on Twitter. So you think he’s gonna step in there himself? I don’t know, feels unlikely.

Over a year later, McGregor called Paul’s bluff and has taken the chance to make him eat his words.
