LiAngelo Ball, brother of Chicago Bulls’ star Lonzo Ball and Charlotte Hornets superstar LaMelo Ball, might not have a future in the NBA but he’s creating a buzz around sporting arenas and stadiums for something else not related to his basketball skills: his music.
His latest hit “Tweaker” has close to 10 million views on YouTube and more than 22 million streams on Spotify. G3 Gelo, his artistic name, has also created a big buzz among professional athletes such as Chicago Sky’s superstar Angel Reese and first team All-Pro Detroit Lions’ wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, who’s a big fan of LiAngelo’s latest song.
LiAngelo Ball performs “Tweaker” at Lions game
LiAngelo Ball got to perform his smashing hit “Tweaker” before the Detroit Lions vs. Washington Commanders Divisional Round game of the 2025 playoffs. As expected, the stadium went wild listening to the rapper’s song as they followed along the lyrics.
Even the Washington Commanders rookie quarterback sensation Jayden Daniels got into it as he went up to LiAngelo Ball to show him that he likes the former NBA player’s music. Phoenix Suns’s superstar Kevin Durant, a big Commanders’ fan, was one of the thousands of people that enjoyed Ball’s performance as he posted a piece of the show on his Instagram page.
Gelo G3’s enjoying his new venture
Being the only Ball brother that didn’t get to enjoy success in the NBA has not being a burden to LiAngelo as he’s enjoying being a massive music star and he recently signed a deal with Def Jam and Universal Music Group that, according to sources, is worth $13 million with $8 million guaranteed and gives Ball full ownership of music and his own record label.
LiAngelo played one game for the UCLA Bruins before he got into trouble along other teammates for allegedly stealing sunglasses from a Louis Vuitton store at a high-end shopping center near UCLA’s hotel during a visit to Shangai, China. Ball was released from custody but didn’t played college ball again as he went overseas and signed with a Lithuanian proffesional team.
Ball went unselected in the 2018 NBA Draft and signed training camp deals with the Detroit Pistons in 2020 and the Charlotte Hornets in 2021 and 2022, but never made a regular-season roster.
His NBA hopes might be over but LiAngelo is making a name for himself as a rapper and internet sensation, with “Tweaker” entering the top 10 streaming chart for the U.S. on Spotify and bypassing current hits from solidified artists such as Tyler, The Creator,Sexyy Red and Kendrick Lamar.
