Lexie Hull recently participated in a team-led initiative to support expanded breast cancer screening services by donating $10,000 to the St. Vincent Foundation, a non-profit organization in Carmel, Indiana.

For Hull’s mom, Jaime Hull, this act was beyond the basketball court. She was moved watching her daughter supporting the cause of something that once saved her owngrandmother, Jamie’s mother.

Beneficial use of fame and influence

This kind of initiatives certainly goes beyond the court. Athletes are doing great by lending their voices and their visibility, as they could reach a bigger audience. Aware of this impact, Hull shared how crucial it is to detect and prevent anything.

Along with assistnat coach Briann January, she presented the donation while engaging with the foundation’s staff, making Fever’s role in the local community more present.

Breast cancer affects 1 out of 8 women in America, according to the American Cancer Society. This is one of the reasons why Jaime Hull felt that proud watching her girl standing up for a really true cause for her, creating a bittersweet mix of smile and tears.
