The Indiana Fever have been fighting their way through the 2025 WNBA season without their biggest star, Caitlin Clark – but opponents are already bracing for the nightmare scenario of facing her in the playoffs.

Former champion Lexie Brown didn’t mince words when talking about Clark’s looming return on the Full Circle podcast. “As long as they’re in playoff contention, I think she’s going to probably continue to take her time getting back,” Brown said.

With the playoffs fast approaching, the Seattle Storm point guard also warned, “So she will be available, being healthy during playoffs… and a rested one at that. Good luck!”

The Fever has thrived without Clark

Clark’s season has been plagued by groin and quad injuries, limiting her to just 13 games. The Fever stumbled early without her, but since the All-Star break, they’ve turned into one of the league’s hottest teams – even matching decade-old franchise records – and currently sit in 5th place.

Brown, whose Storm recently fell 78-74 to Indiana, credited the Fever for their relentless pace. “They play fast as hell. On makes, on misses, they’re running the ball down your throat,” she said, noting that while Clark usually leads those breaks, Sophie Cunningham and Kelsey Mitchell have kept the attack rolling in her absence.

The Fever will be a danger in the playoffs

While no official timetable has been given for Clark’s return, the Fever are locked in a tight battle with the Phoenix Mercury for the 4th seed and home-court advantage.

If Clark is back, healthy, and rested in time for the postseason, the first-round opponent may find themselves in exactly the kind of trouble Lexie Brown is warning about.
