LeBron James was once again a dominant player on the court in his 22nd NBA season, the only one along with Vince Carter to have played so many seasons in the league. Not surprisingly, he was named to the NBA’s Second All-NBA Team after averaging 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, 8.2 assists, one steal and 0.6 blocks with the Lakers after turning 40 in December. It’s amazing that he’s still playing at the highest level at his age.
Many factors contribute to this, such as taking care of and working his body daily, but one is especially important to him, his eating habits, which he spoke about on the Mind the Game podcast. “In the morning I have a green juice or some fruit, or whatever, but I don’t have a full meal until I get home after training,” James said. “My first meal is usually around one or two in the afternoon”.

Co-host Steve Nash asked him if he followed that schedule for any dietary reason or if it was because he didn’t like to eat before training. James replied that it was the former and also revealed that he does not take any artificial supplements: “No, creatine no,” he said. “Just natural vitamins, daily, things like that… If I take something after training, I have a fruit smoothie because I’ve burned so many calories. I have a fruit smoothie or overnight soaked oatmeal.”

What LeBron flatly denied is that he spent a million dollars a year to take care of his body to maintain his longevity, a rumor that once became very popular and that the Lakers star denied during an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show: “Man, I don’t know where that shit came from… Yeah, I don’t know where it came from, but, well, listen, I take care of my body, but I have no idea where that amount of money came from.”
I do dedicate myself to my body, I do a lot of soft tissue work, a lot of massage, a lot of hyperbaric chambers, ice baths… I do everything I can to keep playing at this level, which is what I love
That doesn’t mean he doesn’t take extreme care of his body, especially at his age: “I do dedicate myself to my body, you know, I try to do a little bit of this, a little bit of that. Obviously, a lot of soft tissue work, a lot of massages, a lot of hyperbaric chambers, ice baths. I do everything I can to keep playing at this level, man, I want to keep playing what I love,” explained the 21-time All-Star.
