The Dallas Cowboys have competition when it comes to being “America’s Team“. Its true that no other NFL team can compete with their brand recognition. Jerry Jones‘ franchise was the only sports team in the world valued over $10 billion by Forbes in their latest ranking. But the Los Angeles Lakers have joined the club.

News surfaced this week that Jeanie Buss and Buss Family Trusts will sell the team to Mark Walter, who has been a stakeholder in the franchise since 2021. The franchise is being valued at approximately $10 billion, according to reports. It’s unclear what the aftermath of the sale will be, but fans have started wondering what it means for LeBron James. The legendary player’s future hangs in the balance.

LeBron James still hasn’t said anything about Lakers sale

James is yet to post anything in regards to the sale. In fact, James’ last three posts on X are two Amazon advertisements and a post about Caitlin Clark. Technically, the sale isn’t fully official yet, so James may be waiting to say something, or he may not at all.

Considering that James and Buss had a very strong relationship, her leaving the organization could be the first domino to fall in LeBron’s exit from Los Angeles. It’s possible this changes nothing about his plan, but it could be the push James needed if he was already strongly considering a move to another team.

The biggest thing working in the Lakers’ favor when it comes to keeping James is his age. He will turn 41 at the end of this year. No one is sure how much longer he’ll keep playing, and he continues to do so at a high level, but moving to a whole new organization could come with an acclimation period that James may not want to go through again.
