The Los Angeles Lakers’ elimination from the NBA Playoffs at the hands of the Minnesota Timberwolves leaves many things behind. For example, it is the first failure of the Luka Doncic project in LA. Although winning the ring was an ambitious goal this season, nobody at the Lakers expected to fall in the first round after finishing third in the regular season. The arrival of Doncic raised hopes that have been dashed in a poor playoff series (4-1).

But above all, it leaves doubts, many doubts about whether LeBron James will continue playing. He himself has fueled those doubts with his words: “I will sit down to talk to my family, my wife and my inner circle to discuss it and see what happens. I will also have a conversation with myself about how long I want to keep playing. The truth is that right now I don’t have the answer,” LeBron said about his continuity.

In his appearance with the media at the end of the game in which the Lakers were eliminated, LeBron was asked about the makeup of next year’s roster. He sowed more doubts: “I have a lot to think about, to be honest. Just for me personally going forward with the game of basketball, I have a lot to think about.”

He did have a clear message for the board. When asked about the lack of a center in the Lakers’ rotation, his response was: “No comment. My friend AD (Anthony Davis) said what he needed and a week later he was out,” he said between the joke and the indirect… very direct.

He also had words for his son and the fact that he played with Bronny all season: “I put it as number one of my best achievements this season, for sure. And far from the rest. To have shared a team with him, to see him grow and improve, has been fun and very satisfying. It has been the best, without a doubt.”

The summer will once again be filled with rumors about whether LeBron will continue to play or not. And the short-term Lakers project will depend on it.
