Following the Los Angeles Lakers’ recent win over Stephen Curry’s Golden State Warriors, LeBron James revealed the secret weapon behind the win: his 11-year-old daughter, Zhuri James.
He refered to her as the team’s good luck charm, proudly and jokingly noting the Lakers’ currently 1-0 record with Zhuri in the stands, effectively crowning her the new franchise talisman.
The softening of a legend
While LeBron’s sons, Bronny and Bryce, have grown up under the intense love required to navigate the path toward professional basketball, Zhuri’s arrival in 2014 marked a fundamental shift in the James household. In a candid post-game moment, the Lakers’ legend admitted:
“It’s definitely softened me up over the last 11 years. I had two boys to begin with, but getting a little girl… man, it has definitely softened me up. It’s a different type of love
For LeBron, being a girl dad has provided a contrast to the way he raised his sons. While he admitted to yelling and utilizing a strict approach with Bronny and Bryce, he confessed that the same intensity simply does not exist when it comes to Zhuri.
“It’s a bit of softness with my daughter
As the Lakers push for a deep playoff run, having their talisman Zhuri in the front row might be exactly what LeBron needs to stay grounded. For now, Zhuri is enjoying her childhood, reminding the world that even a strong competitor like her dad has always a soft spot for his daughter.
