LeBron and Savannah James are one of the most solid couples in American sports. The Los Angeles Lakers star demonstrated this on Valentine’s Day by sharing a photo with his partner of 24 years; however, the photo had a particular detail that fans immediately noticed.

LeBron James and Savannah Brinson, her maiden name, met in 2002 in San Diego, California. He was attending St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, while she was a student at Buchtel.

Despite attending rival schools, they soon began dating and, in 2004, welcomed their first child, LeBron “Bronny” James Jr., a little over a year after LeBron was drafted by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In 2007, their second son, Bryce, was born, and in 2013, they finally married at Capella Chapel in San Diego. Their daughter, Zhuri, was born a year later. After 22 years together, the flame hasn’t died, nor has the couple’s sense of humor.

The Jameses’ controversial Valentine’s Day photo

This past February 14, the King took to his Instagram Stories to share a photo of himself and Savannah lying in bed. James captioned the photo, “Happy V Da V Cray! LMAO.”

However, the photo has a very particular detail: Savannah is pointing her middle finger at her nose. This simple gesture sparked a social media storm.

A user with the handle LakeShowYo shared the photo in X (formerly Twitter), attracting numerous reactions, such as:

  • “She’s throwing up the middle finger??”
  • “He’s like, ‘You know where to put that middle finger next.'”
  • “Why the middle finger?”

However, there were also plenty of compliments for the couple, such as:

  • “Probably the most attractive couple I’ve seen today! Nbs.”
  • “The only marriage without controversy today.”
  • “Wishing LeBron’s mistress a Happy Valentine’s Day, too.”

LeBron’s complicated year with the Lakers

The 2025-2026 NBA season didn’t start the way the King would have liked. The star forward missed several games at the beginning of the season due to sciatica.

Since his return, things haven’t been easy. The Lakers are 33-21 and in fifth place in the Western Conference, but has been inconsistent throughout the season.

As for James, his averages of 22 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 7.1 assists per game are below his career averages. It remains to be seen how this will affect the franchise’s attempt to return to the NBA Finals.
