All-Star guard Klay Thompson is ready to boost the Dallas Mavericks chances of making a deep run in the playoffs and a shot at an NBA title.

The former half of the Splash Brothers – alongside superb shooter Stephen Curry – will team up with rookie superstar Cooper Flagg and star Anthony Davis for the 2025 regular season, with the hope of being a contender in the Western Conference.

The blockbuster trade of Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers and Kyrie Irving’s season-ending torn left anterior cruciate ligament on March 3 made the Mavs past season a nightmare, making it a tumultuous road to elimination against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Klay and Megan Thee Stallion? Fans say it’s obvious

In the first seconds of a now-viral video, rapper and singer Megan Thee Stallion is seen laughing and opening a set of collectible Labubu dolls. As she talks to the camera, a male voice believed to be Klay Thompson is heard off-screen, prompting her to playfully shush him and call him “baby.”

She reveals blue is their favorite color “as a couple,” and gushes about how thoughtful the surprise was. While Klay never appears in frame, his presence is felt throughout the clip, fueling the speculation even more.

Fans quickly picked up on the flirty energy, pointing to past clips and joint vacations. Whether this was intentional or just a glimpse behind the scenes, Megan and Klay are giving all the signs of something more than friendship, with a powerful couple in development.

Klay Thompson and the perseverance of the Mavericks

Klay Thompson understands what it takes to win an NBA championship, as he won four alongside former teammates Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Kevin Durant. So it’s easy to understand why the shooting guard felt bad for how the 2024 season went for the Dallas Mavericks.

“I think we persevered,” Thompson said. “We were down to eight or nine guys (dressing for games) at one point, and we held up the fort and got into the play-in and gave ourselves a shot to get to the playoffs. But it sucks. It really sucks. But I’m really proud of every man in this locker room. They showed up to work every day. We tried to do the right thing every day.”

Klay added that it’s hard to win championships without your best guard. “It’s really hard. I know what he’s (Kyrie Irving) going through, but I know he can come back just as good, if not better. I was able to come back and be a part of a championship team (after torn left anterior cruciate ligament surgery), and I know he will come back even stronger. He’s too hard of a worker and too great of an athlete not to.”
