Although World Boxing, the IOC-recognised international boxing federation, announced a few months ago that it will introduce mandatory sex verification tests for all female athletes over the age of 18 who wish to compete in its women’s competitions,Imane Khelif, the protagonist in Paris when questioned about her gender, has insisted that she will defend her Olympic gold at the next event in Los Angeles.
“Yes, God willing, I am still determined to get another Olympic medal,” the Algerian told the Daily Mail, while announcing “many surprises that I have not yet announced, but we will be on the right track.”

The boxer, who has not competed since these tests were introduced, appealed to the CAS against the sex controls imposed by World Boxing. “That rule was created specifically for Imane Khelif and not for female athletes in general. It was issued after the Paris Olympics,” the Algerian insists.
“That’s why the dream continues, the work continues, and as for the campaigns and the people who criticize, I tell them: continue, because I am progressing,” said the boxer.
