Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. starred in a tremendous fight on March 1, 2025 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The fight, valid for the WBA lightweight title, ended in a very controversial draw in the boxing world

Roach surprised everyone and silenced critics, as many insinuated that he was an ‘easy opponent’ for Gervonta, but it was nothing like that, he showed a lot of personality in the ring and came very close to almost winning the fight.

Everything exploded in that ninth round, Lamont connected with a jab to Gervonta, Davis put his knee on the canvas and went straight to his corner to wipe his eyes, many would believe that the referee was going to count it as a knockdown, but he did not

That error made the difference in the judges’ scores, leaving a draw that left a tremendous rain of boos at the Barclays Center

After much controversy outside the ring, Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. are already in advanced talks to stage the rematch this summer

Keyshawn Davis: “He'll never fight me” on potential Tank Davis fight, Calls out Lamont Roach + More

Keyshawn demands Roach Jr

In a chat with The Danza Project,Keyshawn Davis did not hide his tremendous desire to fight Lamont Roach Jr.

“Stylistically, the fight between Lamont Roach and I is the most attractive in the division, without a doubt,” commented the 26-year-old

That’s not all, as he believes that this fight should take place as soon as possible, to the point where he confesses that Lamont should forget about Gervonta altogether.

“If I get my way, Shakur and Tank should fight. Let them do it. Let me fight Lamont. Don’t do the rematch yet,” was Keyshawn’s suggestion

To the point that he took on the role of promoter and gave an idea that will surely appeal to several people.

“Whatever the outcome between Lamont and I or Shakur and Tank… they can still do the rematch. It’s two incredible fights. An incredible fight for Gervonta and another great fight for Lamont. And then Lamont can still go away and fight Shakur,” the Norfolk native commented in the interview

The reality is that this plan seems quite far from reality, as Gervonta Davis and Lamont Roach Jr. are still in advanced negotiations for their rematch this summer. Both fighters will want to leave behind the controversial result and will go out with every intention of winning by a wide margin to avoid any doubts.
