On the day the Thunder were playing the most important game in their history, Kevin Durant had a bombshell ready to revolutionize the NBA.
The forward has just signed for the Houston Rockets, in what is already one of the biggest trades of the year. In addition, Durant, one of the best players to have played for the current NBA champion, had some words on X to congratulate the team he played for nine years.
‘Durantula’ wrote a short message in which he does not refer to Oklahoma’s great year, but to Isaiah Hartenstein’s son, who fell asleep during the title celebration while interviewing his father: “Little Hartenstein is slumped. Congratulations OKC”.Already in his day, Kevin Durant was about to win the ring with the Thunder, reaching the Finals in 2012.
But on that occasion, alongside Russell Westbrook, Serge Ibaka and James Harden (as sixth man), he was defeated in five games by the Miami Heat of LeBron, Wade and Bosh.
Nevertheless, Durant is one of the greatest players in the history of this franchise. He was selected with the second overall pick in the draft and played for nine seasons (2007-2016), before signing with the Golden State Warriors in one of the most controversial trades in league history.
With Oklahoma (although he played his first season still in Seattle) he was named Rookie of the Year, MVP of the season (2014), seven-time All-Star (2010 to 2016) and four-time leading scorer in the League. After moving to the Warriors, alongside Stephen Curry, the Washington native won two consecutive rings, being named Finals MVP in both.
