The New York Knicks have had a very busy summer after getting its loyal fanbase excited during their playoff run in the 2024 regular season.
After years of frustation and watching players not come together to build a competitive team, the Big Apple saw a resurgence with the Knicks lead by gritty guard Jalen Brunson, who arrived a couple of years before from the Dallas Mavericks.
The New York franchise faced off against the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, and both teams gave a very entertaining series that went up to six games, with the Knicks getting the defeat. Even though it was not what the fans expected, the squad brought hope back to one of the hardest basketball venues to play at.
Karl-Anthony Towns gets roasted
Center/forward Karl-Anthony Towns went full defense mode at the recent Knicks youth summer camp in New York city, blocking every single attempt from kids trying to score on him. The former national champion with the legendary Kentucky Wildcats was having a lot of fun, no doubt about it.
The 7-foot NBA veteran used the classic camp lesson, showing the next generation that nothing comes easy, especially when you face an All-Star from the Dominican Republic that has put out impressive numbers throughout his career.
Guard Josh Hart saw the clip and joked that he would hate to have Towns on his team, while fans teased KAT for suddenly becoming a lockdown defender against kids. Karl-Anthony’s playful dominance quickly went viral, turning a summer camp drill into an online comedy moment.
A battle-tested coach will lead the Knicks
The New York Knicks signed Mike Brown as their head coach, a leader that has coached on the biggest stages in basketball and brings championship pedigree to the organization.
The Big Apple franchise hopes that his experience leading the bench during the NBA Finals, winning four titles as an assistant coach, and his ability to grow and develop players will all help them as they aim to bring a championship to New York.
Brown joins the Knicks after he was most recently the head coach of the Sacramento Kings for three seasons (2022-25), where he coached them to a 107-88 record.Following the 2022-23 season, Brown was also named the NBA Coach of the Year for the second time in his career, becoming the 11th coach to win multiple of this awards.
