Junior Caminero joins the exclusive 30-home run club alongside Soto and Pujols

Dominican prospect Junior Caminero of the Tampa Bay Rays continues to build a season worthy of the MLB history books. On Wednesday, during the 5-4 victory over the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium, Caminero hit two home runs that not only propelled his team, but also allowed him to reach a sacred figure in his young career: 30 home runs on the season.

With this important achievement, Caminero joins a select group of Dominican players -Juan Soto and Albert Pujols- as the only ones to reach 30 home runs before turning 22. This feat not only highlights his power at the plate, but also his maturity and projection as one of the great emerging figures in Major League Baseball.

Caminero destroys Angels pitching

The sporting spectacle began in the first inning when Caminero, after missing several pitches from starter Tyler Anderson, destroyed a hanging changeup with a 447-foot blast, the longest of his career according to Statcast. The ball was lost in the left field stands, driving in two runs and giving the Rays an early lead.

Just two innings later, he demonstrated his power again with another home run, this time 400 feet to center field, to extend Tampa Bay’s lead. With this second home run of the day, the Dominican completed the goal of 30 home runs that he had set for himself since spring training… and he did it with almost two months to go in the schedule.

Caminero makes his mark in MLB 2025

In addition to the record, these two home runs could mean a turning point for Caminero, who has had some difficulties away from home this season. Even so, he maintains an enviable offensive line with an average of .323/.359/.620, including 12 home runs on the road.

Junior Caminero is not only living up to expectations, but is already writing his name alongside the greats of Dominican baseball and Major League Baseball. At this rate, the young third baseman could become one of the most feared names in MLB lineups in the coming years.
