Former NFL star Rob Gronkowski has long been the subject of speculation regarding a potential return to the sport as fans wonder could the man regarded as one of the best tight ends ever return? Julian Edelman tried his best so how did it go?

Despite retiring at the peak of his career with multiple championships and a secure Hall of Fame legacy, he’s still only 35 and has now managed to avoid four seasons of wear and tear on his body.

The leaves analysts continuing to wonder if the dominant tight end will make a comeback to add to his four Super Bowl championships across stints with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Whoever won the honors of bringing him back would pick up someone with 621 receptions for 9,286 yards and 92 touchdowns, but in a recent discussion with his longtime friend and former teammate Julian Edelman, Gronkowski made it clear-he has no plans to return to the field.

Edelman tries to resurrect Gronk

Edelman playfully attempted to convince Gronkowski that he still had what it takes to compete in the NFL and even laid out a hypothetical plan for his return, suggesting a gradual transition back into the game.

And he even momentarily sparked interest in Gronk, known for his formidable partnership with Tom Brady, who entertained the idea just for a brief moment as the 38-year-old suggested a gradual reintroduction.

Rob at 35 is still better than 60 percent of the TEs,” Edelman said on the Dudes on Dudes podcast. “But you would have to train for two weeks.

“I think you can get 11 plays a game. We give you three in the red area. We’re talking early season.

“We’re not going to throw you out for 69 plays. We’ll give you 11 plays. Build your confidence and once it hits November and December, that’s when we start kicking it up.”

Edelman’s enthusiasm led to a joke from Gronk about making Edelman his agent, instead of being represented by his actual agent, super-agent Drew Rosenhaus as the future Hall of Famer quipped that he would trust his former teammate to negotiate his return over.

“That’s what I’m talking about,” Gronkowski replied. “I’m going to have you as my agent, Jules, when I do make this comeback.

“I’m going to have you put that in the contract. That’s how we are going to establish it step by step.”

Despite Edelman’s persistence and the constant chatter among fans, Gronkowski remains firm in his decision. Though he acknowledges his ability to still make an impact on the field, he has no intention of returning to the physically demanding sport.

While the jokes and speculation continue, Gronkowski’s career remains firmly in retirement, even if he does poke fun by admitted that he has played a role in keeping the rumors alive as entertainment.
