The legendary Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao recently announced that he would come out of retirement and put on the gloves again, and he will do so in style by fighting for the World Boxing Council (WBC) welterweight title against American Mario Barrios.

Pacquiao, 46, is just over 15 years older than his opponent, with Barrios being 29 years old, and the question arises whether the Filipino idol is fit to get back into a ring again, having last fought in 2021, resulting in a loss to Cuban Yordenis Ugas.

Dinamita Marquez criticizes the WBC over Manny Pacquiao

If anyone knows about facing ‘Pac-Man’ it is his greatest rival, Juan Manuel Marquez, with ‘Dinamita’ not seeing the Filipino’s return to the ring in a good light, especially because of Pacquiao’s long period of inactivity and the years he carries on his back.

Marquez told Probox TV that he is intrigued by Pacquiao’s return, although he criticised the WBC for giving the Filipino the opportunity to fight for the title despite his inactivity and not giving the opportunity to the main contenders for the belt.

The one to blame is the organization, why do they put Pacquiao to fight for the world title after four years of inactivity? Where are the ranked fighters from 1 to 10, from 1 to 5? The organization is making a mistake, but letting a historic fighter fight is not an issue

The first episode was at featherweight, then the rematch at super featherweight and the last two at welterweight. With Pacquiao’s return to the ring, will the Mexican be encouraged to arrange the “Marquez vs Pacquiao 5” fight?
