The New York Knicks went into Monday night’s game against the Miami Heat with a great need to get a win, and they did.
New York cruised to a 116-95 victory over the Heat, extending Miami’s losing streak to eight games.
Great night for the Knicks
This was undoubtedly a resounding victory for the Knicks, who have struggled of late without star point guard Jalen Brunson, who has missed the past few weeks with an ankle injury.
Mikal Bridges led New York, scoring 28 points and three assists, with an efficient 10 of 14 from the field and 4 of 6 from three-point range.
Karl-Anthony Towns added 23 points and seven rebounds, but it was Josh Hart who stole the show on Monday by recording another triple-double.
Hart recorded 12 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists in the Knicks‘ resounding victory, achieving his eighth triple-double of the season. With that triple-double, Hart also made history for the Knicks franchise, tying the great Walt Frazier for the most triple-doubles in a single season in franchise history, with eight. Frazier achieved the feat in the 1968-69 season and Hart will now look to break his record at the end of the season.
Monday’s triple-double also marked the 14th of Hart’s career as a Knick, putting him fourth in franchise history.
Hart has been a key player for the Knicks this season. The 30-year-old is averaging 14.2 points, 9.7 rebounds, 5.6 assists and 1.4 steals per game, shooting 53.3% from the field and 33.3% from three-point range. Hart also leads the NBA in minutes per game this season with 37.9 and makes the most of them in every game, putting in the dirty work in the Knicks’ starting rotation.
After tying Frazier’s franchise triple-double record on Monday, he will now look to break it on Wednesday when New York travels to the San Antonio Spurs.
