Joey Bosa, one of the NFL‘s premier defensive talents, has officially started the next chapter of his career in Buffalo. The former Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher, released earlier this month due to salary-cap issues, found himself at the center of speculation about possibly joining his brother, Nick Bosa, in San Francisco.
Fans dreamed of seeing the two elite edge rushers unite to wreak havoc on opposing quarterbacks. However, destiny had other ideas, as the older Bosa instead opted to sign a one-year, $12.6 million contract with the Buffalo Bills-a team with championship aspirations.
Upon arriving in Buffalo, Bosa experienced a warm and memorable introduction to his new franchise. Bills legend Andre Reed captured the moment, sharing a delightful behind-the-scenes video of Bosa inspecting his new gear on Instagram. In the footage, the veteran pass rusher enthusiastically examines his fresh Bills jersey, hat, and even the pen he used to finalize the deal.
Lifting the jersey marked clearly with “BOSA” across the back, he nods approvingly, commenting simply, “Good jersey.” He then tests out his new Bills hat, satisfied again, adding with a smile, “Good hat.”
Finally, as he signs the contract, he playfully assesses the smoothness of the pen, saying, “Mmm, good pen.” Reed, sharing in the excitement, captioned the video simply with “Bosa,” accompanied by eyes and thumbs-up emojis.
Bosa and Allen ready to chase history together
Now entering his 10th NFL season, the 29-year-old Bosa admitted he’s ready for change and eager to compete for championships.
Bosa‘s addition arrives at a crucial juncture for the Bills, who suffered a disappointing exit in last year’s playoffs, losing in the divisional round.
One teammate particularly thrilled about this new signing is Bills quarterback and recent MVP, Josh Allen, who didn’t hide his excitement at having Bosa join the team.
“That was a pretty cool signing. He’s gotten to me a couple times in my career. I’m glad we don’t have to play against him now and focus on chipping him and getting help over there for our tackles. But he’s a stud, he’s proved that he can play at the top of the level, at the highest of the highs. So looking forward to him coming in and making an impact for our defense,” Allen said enthusiastically.
