It was a bittersweet night for Jimmy Butler on Tuesday; well, it was mostly bitter. Butler made his return to Miami for the first time since getting shipped off by the Miami Heat in a trade to the Golden State Warriors. Hoping to get some revenge on his former team, Butler and the Warriors fell flat without Stephen Curry.
Expected to be an explosive return as both sides continue to hold some resentment, Butler was met with a video tribute by the team. Butler himself had nothing but nice words to say after the game. All in all, it went smoothly for both sides, even though Miami came out on top. But after the game, the Heat’s social media account made a passive aggressive post that got fans talking.

The Heat shared a video of Andrew Wiggins, who was traded to Miami for Butler, hugging members of the Warriors. The caption read: “Always good to see your former coaches & teammates” with a red heart emoji.
There was no such post about Butler, which obviously was recognized by fans. It’s clear the team is still not over what transpired with Butler. It’s a scar that will take time to heal.
As much as both sides will claim it was the others’ fault, the two will have to move on eventually. Butler has had a lot of success with Golden State in a short amount of time, while Miami has struggled. But at least for one night, the Heat go the last laugh.
