Micah Parsons’ shocking departure from the Dallas Cowboys to the Green Bay Packers continues to stir controversy. Nearly a month after the blockbuster trade, the star linebacker is set to return to AT&T Stadium to face his old teammates-and team owner Jerry Jones already claims to have a plan to stop him.

Just days before the 2025 NFL season kicked off, the Cowboys stunned fans and media alike by announcing the trade of Parsons to Green Bay. The move came after contract negotiations dragged on through the offseason and ultimately collapsed.

Since then, Parsons and Jones have taken subtle shots at each other, heating up the buildup to their Week 4 showdown in Arlington. And now, Jones has added more fuel to the fire by hinting at his strategy for neutralizing his ex-defensive cornerstone.

Parsons is a “problematic” player

Speaking with 105.3 The Fan, Jones admitted that stopping Parsons won’t be easy but insisted there’s a solution. Micah will be problematic, very problematic,” Jones said. “I’d suggest that we get ahead and run the ball.”

While praising Parsons’ talent, the owner also minimized his overall impact. Micah is special-we all know he is-and he can be disruptive. While he makes great plays, there is also a way to approach playing against Micah, because we didn’t exactly win the Super Bowl during those years.”

Jones went further, suggesting that Parsons’ highlight plays sometimes masked vulnerabilities. “From a game-planning standpoint, having Micah for four years was a huge advantage. But there were also plays, especially in the run game, where you wish you had a different formation.”

Dallas desperate for a win

The Cowboys’ start to the season has been far from ideal. They sit at 1-2 after three weeks, with losses to Philadelphia and Chicago, and only a narrow overtime win against the New York Giants to their credit.

With the first month of the season nearly over, Dallas badly needs a victory to even its record. Fans are restless, and the team’s confidence is shaky heading into what appears to be a softer stretch of the schedule-one that could still turn into a nightmare if the Cowboys stumble again.
