There is no doubt that the Dallas Cowboys have a lot of work ahead of them if they want to compete, not only in the National Conference but also in their own division, the NFC East, where the reigning champions, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the team that will undoubtedly be contenders, the Washington Commanders led by Jayden Daniels, are located.
Last year, the Cowboys were left out of the playoffs, largely due to Dak Prescott’s injury early in the season. However, the reality is that their rushing attack was one of the worst in the NFL, and they haven’t been able to do much this offseason to change the situation.
In the previous season, the Cowboys’ rushing attack ranked 24th in attempts, 27th in yards, and was the worst in the league in rushing touchdowns. Dallas was led in 2024 by Rico Dowdle and Ezekiel Elliott, both of whom are no longer with the team.

Davis was on the practice squad in 2024 but never had the opportunity to play in any games. His best season was in 2022 when he played 12 games and three in 2023. Over his career, Malik had 38 carries for 161 yards and one touchdown, along with six receptions for 63 yards.
Another situation to watch is that the charismatic running back Deuce Vaughn is also at risk of losing his spot, as the Cowboys have tried to add depth to the position. The Cowboys signed Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, and also selected two running backs in the draft: Jaydon Blue from Texas and Phil Mafah from Clemson.

The Dallas Cowboys have a lot of work to do, but the reality is that a difficult 2025 is on the horizon due to the improvement of the Commanders and the power that the Philadelphia Eagles, with Saquon Barkley, currently possess.
