Jazz Chisholm Jr. thought he would get away with it, but he didn’t. MLB has not forgiven him and has sanctioned him for violating the social media policy by posting on his account during the Yankees vs. Rays game.
Some sources reveal that the punishment is an undisclosed fine and a one-game suspension. Note that the language of his post has nothing to do with it; the punishment is for tweeting during the game, which is against MLB rules.
Far from all the controversy, the Yankees did their thing on the field, beating the Rays 6-3 with a key offensive performance in the fifth and sixth innings.
What happened to Chisholm?
On an exciting night, the New York Yankees showed their strength on the diamond, but it was Jazz Chisholm Jr. who stole the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.
After being ejected for arguing an umpire’s call, the player did not hold back, posting an inflammatory message from the locker room on X, in violation of MLB rules regarding the use of electronic devices and criticism of umpires.
The league investigated the incident, and a model punishment was in the offing. Far from backing down, Chisholm was defiant, saying he would accept the consequences without a problem. Some sources are already reporting the punishment.
Chisholm Jr. arrived last year at the trade deadline from the Miami Marlins, and his performance has been fairly consistent, contributing some interesting numbers such as six home runs and 11 runs batted in. He will undoubtedly look to improve his statistics this season.
The Yankees are already thinking about the next game
This is a very important win for the New York Yankees, as they now have a 12-7 record and are the leaders of the East Division, not only that, but they leave Tampa at the bottom of the table.
But it doesn’t end there, as they meet again tonight in what promises to be an exciting game, with the Rays not wanting to come away empty-handed and looking for this win at all costs.
