To say that there’s a lot at stake in the AL Wild Card series between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox would be a big understatement. The most contentious and storied rivalry in MLB history, the winner of this series will earn bragging rights for a whole season and possibly much longer if either club goes on to win the World Series.
After Boston took Game 1, New York needed a win to save their season at home. A back-and-forth contest went New York’s way in the end, with Austin Wells driving in Jazz Chisholm Jr. on an RBI single in the 8th inning. While an RBI single would usually be nothing to write home about, Chisholm being the one to score was particularly special since he was benched for Game 1 by manager Aaron Boone.
Amed Rosario replaced Chisholm in the lineup for that game, but he went 0-for-3 and the move backfired in the end. Chisholm also went 0-for-3 in Game 2, but he got on base by walking before scoring the winning run. And when he did score, it was an emotional moment for the second baseman due to his absence in Game 1’s starting lineup.

Chisholm was obviously upset to not start that game. So much so that he needed to cool off following the loss. How did he do that? By booting up his PlayStation 5 and taking it out on competitors in MLB The Show.
Chris Kirschner of The Athletic revealed as much in a recent article, where he spoke to Chisholm about his method of relaxation. Chisholm says he played until 3:00 AM with his virtual squad that features legends like Ken Griffey Jr. and Jimmy Rollins.
Chisholm’s video game venture worked, as he played a pivotal role in the Yankees’ Game 2 win. Hopefully, he will do the same before a do-or-die Game 3.
