The Philadelphia Eagles will have their shot at revenge against the Giants – and especially against Jaxson Dart, who just a couple of weeks ago played at an elite level and ended up dismantling the defending champions. In that game, Dart looked like a seasoned veteran; the Eagles’ defense couldn’t stop him at any point, and he finished with a touchdown pass plus another score on the ground.
Jaxson Dart wasn’t the only standout performer that day – Cam Skateebo had his best game as a pro, rushing for 98 yards and scoring three touchdowns. The atmosphere at MetLife Stadium was electric, something fans hadn’t felt in years – perhaps not since the 2022 season, when the team made the playoffs.
The Giants’ defense also shined in that game, holding Saquon Barkley to just 58 rushing yards. Jalen Hurts never looked comfortable; he was intercepted once and sacked three times – two of those courtesy of Brian Burns.
Now, Jaxson Dart heads to Lincoln Financial Field
There’s no doubt that Dart has become the face of the New York Giants. His energy and swagger may not sit well with everyone – before last week’s game against the Denver Broncos, he drew attention for wearing chains and dancing during warm-ups – but he’s backed it all up with his play. This week, however, he’ll face his first truly hostile environment: the home of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Eagles fans are eager to go after Jaxson Dart this Sunday, and the rookie has already received some advice from veteran teammates – particularly from tight end Daniel Bellinger, who said the following ahead of the visit to Lincoln Financial Field (via the New York Post):
“You know you’ve got to stick close to your brothers in the locker room, just kind of stay tight as one group because that team and that fan base, they’re going to get a little gritty on the sidelines,” tight end Daniel Bellinger said. “I would tell him, ‘Listen, focus on you, focus on the team, stick together, and don’t worry about the outside noise.'”
Another challenge awaiting Jaxson Dart in this tough environment is history itself – the New York Giants haven’t won at Lincoln Financial Field since 2013. That’s 12 years without a road victory against one of their biggest NFC East rivals. It’s shaping up to be a fierce matchup between the Eagles and Giants in Week 8.
