Jason Kelce has always supported his younger brother Travis through every phase of his career and after visiting Kansas City recently, he gives opinion on Travis‘ latest venture away from the football field – his new restaurant.
The former center watched Travis help the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the Washington Commanders 28-7 as Kelce, a 10-time Pro Bowler, finished with six receptions for 99 yards and a touchdown, continuing his impressive season.
However, Jason‘s visit wasn’t just about football and working on ESPN’s Monday Night Football, as he also made time to experience Travis‘s off-field passion project – 1587 Prime, the high-end steakhouse that he co-owns with teammate Patrick Mahomes.
Speaking on the latest episode of their New Heights podcast, Jason praised his brother’s new restaurant and shared his impressions of what the project represents.
“It’s fantastic,” Jason said. “It’s a high-end, very well-done steakhouse. I did think it was interesting; there’s a lot more creativity to it.”
The former Philadelphia Eagles star visited the restaurant with their father, Ed Kelce, and admitted that the experience exceeded expectations from the menu design to the service.
Jason says 1587 restaurant reflects Travis Kelce’s personality
Ultimately Jason described 1587 Prime as a reflection of Travis’s personality – creative, welcoming, and detail-oriented as he enjoyed several dishes, including The Big Red (named after Chiefs coach Andy Reid), a cheesesteak, and the meatballs with picada.
Travis laughed as Jason shared his remarks, expressing his gratitude for the support. For Travis, 1587 Prime represents more than just a restaurant – it’s a creative extension of who he is beyond the football field.
Located inside the Loews Kansas City Hotel, 1587 Prime was launched in partnership with the hospitality group Noble 33. The restaurant’s name pays homage to Travis’s jersey number (87) and Mahomes’s (15), symbolizing their friendship and shared success both on and off the field.
“Fantastic,” Jason remarked, noting how the food blended comfort and sophistication and to complement the meal, he sampled the “Big Yeti” and the “Alchemy” – cocktails inspired by Travis and his fiancĂ©e, Taylor Swift.
He also ordered Garage Beer, a light beer brand that he co-owns with Travis whilst Jason found humor in the way his brother incorporated simple favorites into the upscale menu.
“I think the most Travis Kelce thing is it has a lot of regular food done at an upscale level,” Jason joked. “Trav, for a long time, ate like a child.
“And now, we’re at a steakhouse and there are some childlike items that are done at like a really high level.”
As Jason reflected on his brother’s achievements, he made it clear that Travis’s decision to invest in life beyond football wasn’t just about business – it was about building something tasteful.
