Wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase landed a massive contract to become one of the highest-paid players in the entire NFL. The deal is for four years and $161 million, with $112 million guaranteed, and his reaction was immediate.

Ja’Marr Chase’s Reaction to His Million-Dollar Contract

“It’s starting to hit me,” wrote the Cincinnati Bengals receiver after signing his contract, a five-word response that perfectly captures the monumental figure he secured, making him the highest-paid player in NFL history, excluding quarterbacks.

At just 25 years old, Chase has surpassed 1,000 yards in each of his first four seasons. In 2024, he set his career bests with 127 receptions, 1,708 yards, and 17 touchdowns.

Since being drafted fifth overall and earning AP Offensive Rookie of the Year honors in 2021, Chase has truly established himself as one of the league’s top receivers. He currently leads the NFL with 46 receiving touchdowns, ranks third with 5,425 receiving yards, and sits sixth with 395 receptions.

In 2024, Chase earned his first All-Pro selection after an impressive season that featured three games with at least 10 catches and 177 yards. One standout performance came in a thrilling 35-34 loss to Baltimore on a Thursday night, where he caught 11 passes for 264 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his explosive playmaking ability.

Another Million-Dollar Deal for the Bengals

And, as everyone looks for the best deal, his teammate, Tee Higgins, wasn’t far behind, agreeing to a four-year, $115 million contract. While this could create some imbalance on the team, it makes Joe Burrow happy to see his receivers staying within the organization.

Now, the big question is whether this trio can help the Bengals return to the Super Bowl… Or if it will just go down as another risky bet in the NFL.
