Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles could lose one of their most lethal weapons, the very one that helped them reach and win Super Bowl LIX in a decisive manner. And it’s because, due to constant “complaints,” the “Tush Push” might come to an end.
It may not be the flashiest play and it looks pathetic to see a team like the Eagles, which has the best running back in the entire NFL, opt to execute this strategy when they only need to gain one yard, but the truth is that it’s effective and, at the same time, lethal.
Who wants to ban the Tush Push?
The Green Bay Packers made the proposal to prohibit the quarterback from being pushed. This notion will be discussed at the next meeting of the owners in Florida this weekend, which will extend into early April.
The proposal is that “it be prohibited for an offensive player to push another teammate who is lined up directly behind the center and receives the snap immediately after the snap.” So, it specifically targets the super play that belongs to with the Eagles: the infamous “Tush Push.”
Good news for Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles
Amid the dispute that will take place, or the little encouragement this may represent, there is a possibility that the ban won’t come to pass, as according to the Washington Post, it seems that the Green Bay Packers’ proposal is going nowhere.
And it appears that there won’t be enough votes to stop the play from being executed anymore, since they need 24 votes in favor out of the 32 teams that make up the NFL.
But nothing is set in stone, and anything can happen. In the worst-case scenario, the Philadelphia Eagles would have to change their star play, something that should hardly bother them when they have a powerhouse like Saquon Barkley as their Running Back.
