The highly anticipated exhibition fight between Jake Paul and Gervonta “Tank” Davis, which will take place on November 14 in Miami, already has clear and official rules. Although it is an exhibition, the fight will have an official winner, as there will be three professional ringside judges who will score round by round.
According to Nakisa Bidarian, co-founder of Most Valuable Promotions, Jake Paul’s promoter:
There will be a winner because the fighters agreed and the Florida Athletic Commission accepted several conditions, including that the maximum weight would be 195 pounds
The fight will be contested over 10 three-minute rounds, with 12-ounce gloves and both fighters will be under USADA’s anti-doping control, the highest level of testing available in the United States.
Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis: weight difference, fighting style and cross statements
Although both are professionally licensed, the fight will not be recorded on their official records and this is all due to the extreme physical difference between the two boxers. Jake Paul has fought in weight classes up to 227 pounds, while Davis has never exceeded 140 pounds. A gap of more than 87 pounds would make a professional fight unfeasible.
Even so, both fighters were confident. The influencer-turned-boxer said:
There are many holes in his defense that no one has exposed before… I’m looking forward to getting another viral knockout for the fans
Davis, the current three-division world champion, was not to be outdone:
He’s a lot bigger, but I’m faster. He’s going to last a couple of rounds, but when things get hot… you know how it ends
Where and when to watch Jake Paul vs Gervonta Davis?
The event will be held on November 14 in Miami and will be broadcast on Netflix and promises to be one of the most media-friendly events on the boxing calendar, not only because of the clash of styles and sizes, but also because of the media statements that both fighters know how to put together around their fights.
While it is an exhibition, the global interest in seeing Jake Paul face a true champion like Gervonta keeps the event in the spotlight. With official rules, judges, anti-doping control and promises of knockouts, the show is guaranteed.
