A well-known saying goes that “he who grasps too much, grasps too little” and it may fit perfectly on this subject. But no, it’s Jake Paul!

When people finally stopped talking so insistently about his fight with Mike Tyson, the younger of the Paul brothers had finally managed to get attention in the boxing world again, the same one he divided by beating ‘Iron Mike’ in a very bad fight in Arlington, Texas.

But true to his essence, Jake Paul cannot concentrate on just one thing, and when he should have devoted all his focus on his new rival, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., he went to talk to the media about his interest in getting into an octagon.

“I want to be like Holly Holm”

The YouTuber-turned-boxer apparently also wants to fight in the Mixed Martial Arts octagon, and said so at a press conference ahead of the fight against the Mexican to be held at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California, on June 28.

When asked by Fight Hype, Jake Paul said: “Yes, I want to be like Holly Holm (former UFC champion who signed with his company MVP Promotions). I’m super interested in testing my skills in the cage. I think it would be a great show. Nate Diaz keeps ducking. We’ll find the right opponent,” he said.

A truly unexpected rival

The matter does not stop there, as Nakisa Bidarian, Paul’s partner, dropped another bombshell, revealing the intention of his office to find a rival for the YouTuber in his adventure in the octagon, and to advance that they are already in talks with Oleksandr Usyk’s camp, the current undisputed heavyweight champion, for an unthinkable Mixed Martial Arts fight in which the PFL would be involved.

The eventual fight is reportedly being planned to become a reality in 2026. The question remains here: What about Chavez Jr.? Jake Paul must know that the saying is wise, because it is absolutely true.
