Conor McGregor‘s possible return to the octagon continues to make headlines, but not everyone is convinced that the Irishman’s comeback is imminent or even desirable. After a new post of McGregor training, this time on his yacht, YouTuber and boxer Jake Paul did not hold back his opinion and sent a blunt message to the former UFC champion. This all comes amid anticipation for McGregor’s possible involvement in a UFC event at the White House in 2026, a proposal floated by President Donald Trump.

The last time McGregor was seen in action was in July 2021, in a fight against Dustin Poirier that ended with a serious leg injury for the Irishman. Since then, rumors and announcements of his return have been constant, but no fight has materialized.

At the time, a fight against Michael Chandler at UFC 303 was also announced, but a last-minute injury left him out of action, fueling fans’ doubts about his real commitment to competition. Despite his recent re-entry into the UFC’s anti-doping testing program and his posts showing his preparation, figures such as Jake Paul have expressed their doubts.

Jake Paul’s ‘mockery’ of McGregor

Jake Paul, who has successfully ventured into the world of boxing, has not hesitated to express his disinterest in the prolonged wait for McGregor’s return. A comment on the Irishman’s Instagram post reflects a growing sense among some followers that McGregor’s promises will not translate into action. Paul commented: “Bro, give up, hahaha”.

It is worth remembering that in the past there were talks about a possible clash between Paul and McGregor, either in a boxing ring or in the MMA octagon, especially after Paul’s fight against boxing legend Mike Tyson. However, those negotiations never came to fruition.

An uncertain future for McGregor

Now, with Paul focused on other challenges and McGregor once again flirting with the idea of fighting again, the YouTuber’s comment highlights the impatience and skepticism surrounding the former champion. While figures such as UFC president Dana White have hinted at the possibility of seeing McGregor on the 2026 card alongside names such as Jon Jones, the lack of concreteness and continued setbacks have led some, such as Jake Paul, to recommend that the iconic Irish fighter hang up his gloves once and for all

The question that remains is whether this new promise from McGregor will finally become a reality or will remain as another chapter in his already legendary and sometimes frustrating career. While the Irishman continues to show his activity on social media, exciting his fans, the reality is that he seems to be getting further and further away from the action and we would have to wait until 2026 to see if he can finally make a comeback or if it will all be up in the air.
