Insults and offended. That’s how we can define the chapter of the verbal confrontation between Jake Paul and Francis Ngannou. One was outraged at being challenged by an influencer and the other was upset that a living boxing legend like Mike Tyson was disrespected.
Prior to the fight between Jake Paul and Anthony Joshua, which will take place on December 8, the old feud with Ngannou was revived. In fact, the fight against Joshua took a back seat at the press conference. It was the accumulated grudges that were the real protagonists. Paul, like every samurai, forgives but does not forget. Well, in his case he does not forgive either.
He keeps fresh in his memory the snub he received from Ngannou to fight him. He also keeps in mind the words spoken by the French-Cameroonian when he explained the reasons for his refusal to get into the ring with him as an opponent. To this accumulated anger, there is one more: the indignation of what he considers a lack of respect for the legacy of Mike Tyson.
For Paul, Francis was rude to belittle and criticize the fight he had with Tyson. In his opinion, having expressed badly about that fight implied denigrating the former world heavyweight champion himself.
He’s basically also talking trash about Mike Tyson for fighting me
Holding nothing back, Jake was very specific in expressing what he thinks and feels about Ngannou.
He’s just an idiot
For Paul, there is a solution to stop this back-and-forth, to put an end to the animosity between the two: for the French-Cameroonian to accept the fight and face each other in the ring.
What did Francis Ngannou do that Jake Paul does not forgive?
In November 2024, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson faced each other. The winner was the Cleveland native by unanimous decision, pocketing $40 million while the loser took home $20 million. It was one of the big streaming events because it was broadcast on Netflix successfully.
A reporter asked Ngannou about the possibility of facing Paul. Such questioning offended the former UFC champion. He considered that this approach was disrespectful. He emphasized that Jake would not have the slightest chance of anything in the octagon.
Come on, don’t be silly… maybe if we put, maybe we put the two, the two poor brothers in the arena, in the cage, look at the cage, and then yes, maybe there’s something to do there. Come on, respect me a little bit
Ngannou refused to accept a fight with Paul because he does not consider him a serious fighter. For him, he is an image of entertainment, an influencer. In his opinion, he cannot give validity or seriousness to someone who does not know how to fight at a professional level.
When you subscribe to Netflix, you go there to be entertained. And this is not entertainment, I don’t know what you’re looking for
