Arguably the biggest boxing event of the year came and went on Friday night, and overall it was a massive success. Despite the technical issues on Netflix and the relatively slow pace of the main event, Jake Paul and Mike Tyson delivered when it came to putting together a spectacle.

Preceded by two world title fights that lived up to their biling and more, Paul and Tyson saw AT&T Stadium fill to capacity. In front of a sold-out crowd and with over $60 million viewers online, Paul defeated Tyson, culminating what was the perfect night for the 27-year-old. And he won’t stop bragging about it for a while.

On Tuesday, Paul shared an ESPN article that delved into detail about the Paul-Tyson event raking in over $18 million in total revenue from ticket sales. That number set a new record for a combat sports event outside of Las Vegas.

Jake Paul claims he’s the “biggest draw in boxing”

His caption: “Biggest draw in boxing“. It’s easy to see that as shade thrown towards Canelo Alvarez, who has frequently been dubbed “the face of boxing“. Paul has been calling out Alvarez for a while now.

It should be noted that none of Paul’s previous fights came close to these numbers. Tyson did a lot of heavy lifting on his side, as “Iron Mike” has millions of fans from his earlier years and his post-retirement legacy in pop culture.

Still, it’s an impressive feat nonetheless. Tyson could have faced a lesser known opponent and the numbers would not be nearly as favorable.

Paul has shown the ability to draw viewers. Whether those fans are tuning in out of spite doesn’t matter. At the end of the day, numbers are numbers and he has them as evidence to support his claims.
