After the Kansas City Chiefs’ tough Super Bowl loss in New Orleans on February 9, Travis Kelce was seen walking off the field with a look of defeat, accompanied by his girlfriend, Taylor Swift.

While Kelce’s disappointment was largely attributed to the game’s outcome, there might have been another reason for Swift’s somber expression-namely, the couple’s differing life goals.

The 35-year-old NFL tight end had hoped for a memorable victory, which would have solidified his team’s historic third consecutive Super Bowl win.

At the same time, Swift, also 35, faced her own set of setbacks, returning from her record-breaking world tour to lose out on all six of her Grammy nominations. The combination of these professional disappointments has led sources to say that the couple is experiencing a “dose of reality,” especially after their whirlwind year of dating in 2023.

Shifting priorities: Marriage and family

Although Kelce and Swift have been living a fairytale romance, the recent events have shaken their idealistic bubble. According to insiders, Swift is now looking to shift the focus of their relationship, hoping that marriage and starting a family would give both of them a new sense of purpose.

Taylor is eager for them to get married and have a child as soon as possible,” the source explained to RadarOnline.

This desire for a fresh start aligns with the couple’s long-term goals, but it comes at a time when Kelce is dealing with the aftermath of a challenging season. Many had speculated that the Super Bowl would be the perfect moment for Kelce to propose to Swift, particularly with a proposal in front of a confetti shower. But with the Chiefs’ loss, Kelce’s future on the field has become uncertain.

Kelce, who has been playing for 12 seasons in the NFL, is conflicted about his future. Despite being financially secure and having other opportunities outside of football, like acting, he is determined to retire on a high note. On his New Heights podcast, Kelce admitted the “wear and tear” of his long career had left him unsure about the timing of his retirement, adding that he is “kicking the can down the road” when it comes to making a final decision.

In contrast, Swift is ready to settle into the next chapter of their lives, privately hoping Kelce will retire soon so they can prioritize family.

“She wants to get married and start a family now,” the source said.

“She’ll support him through another year of football if that’s what he decides, but she’s hoping he will choose to retire soon.”
