As the release of Happy Gilmore 2 approaches, fans are buzzing about which celebrities will show up in the sequel to Adam Sandler‘s beloved golf comedy. With Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce making a surprise cameo, speculation grew over whether his girlfriend, global music icon Taylor Swift, might appear as well.
Sandler recently confirmed that Swift is not part of the cast of Happy Gilmore 2, which lands on Netflix on July 25, 2025. Speaking with InStyle, Sandler said she “wasn’t even considered” for a cameo in the film. While some may find that surprising given her A-list status and recent popularity in Hollywood circles, Sandler made it clear the casting decisions were based on character fit, not celebrity draw.
Still, Sandler had nothing but admiration for Swift off-screen. “She’s so damn nice to my family and has always been,” Sandler told Entertainment Tonight. He explained that his daughters have met Taylor “a bunch of times over the years” and shared warm hugs. The pop star left such a lasting impression that Sandler admits he still gets nervous around her because he wants to impress his kids.
Kelce gets a scene, but Swift wins off the field
While Swift may not appear in the film, her boyfriend Travis Kelce certainly does. In what’s being billed as one of the more unexpected cameos, the NFL star plays a hotel employee in a scene that has already sparked buzz among fans. Julie Bowen, who reprises her role as Virginia Venit, commented that Kelce “earned his spot,” and added, “everybody wanted to be in it.”
Kelce‘s inclusion in the sequel follows his recent surge into pop culture stardom, thanks to both his NFL dominance and his high-profile relationship with Swift. However, Sandler made it clear that the film’s creative decisions weren’t influenced by gossip or celebrity relationships. The priority, he says, was casting people who could bring something unique to the table and Kelce fit the part.
As for Swift, while she’s not part of the Happy Gilmore universe on screen, her behind-the-scenes impact is undeniable. Sandler shared a moment from the Eras Tour film premiere where his daughter hugged Swift and came away beaming. These moments, he said, are what truly matter as a father.
Sandler even admitted that Swift‘s presence makes him “nervous in a good way,” not because she’s a superstar, but because he sees how much she means to his children. It’s clear that even without a cameo, Swift is already a star in the Sandler household.
While fans hoping to see Swift appear in the comedy will be disappointed, Happy Gilmore 2 still boasts an impressive lineup. Alongside Sandler and Bowen, expect a mix of returning characters, new faces, and a few wild celebrity appearances.
